Originally from New Jersey but a full blown Bellinghamster now, Andrea started singing and performing from a very early age. She attended Western Washington University in 2011 with the original intention to pursue a career in opera performance, but has since discovered an intuitive love of teaching and supporting local music education. A self-professed voice nerd, her primary focus with her students is to help them understand the mechanical workings of their voices and use this knowledge to discover their own unique, healthy sound. She has been teaching locally since 2014.
Andrea’s eclectic taste ranges from musicals to metal and many genres in between. Her growing compendium of influential singers includes Nina Simone, Florence Welsh, Meatloaf, Freddie Mercury, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Celine Dion, Barbara Hannigan, Julie Andrews, Joyce DiDonato, Imogen Heap, and Pauline Viardot to name a few.
When she’s not teaching, Andrea works as a school liaison for Bellingham Wind Works, helping provide working instruments and educational materials to music classrooms in Whatcom and Skagit county schools. She is also an occasional performer with Pacific Northwest Opera, and is hoping to take on additional performing projects in the upcoming year.
