My journey with the trumpet began when I was eight, and I’ve spent the past twelve years crafting myself as a musician, while sharing my knowledge of the instrument. In high school, I won first place at the WMEA State Solo and Ensemble Contest as a junior, played with three All State ensembles, and performed the Haydn Trumpet Concerto as a featured soloist with the Olympia Symphony. Now a sophomore at Western Washington University, I hold principal positions in Western’s Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony. I’ve also performed in a variety of professional paid-gigs, collaborating with organizations such as the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Opera, Bellingham Yacht Club, and Canadian Memorial Church in Vancouver BC. When I’m not playing trumpet, I consider myself an emerging producer, fitness enthusiast and creative influencer.
Influences: Much of my musical influence comes from renowned jazz and classical trumpeters such as Wynton Marsalis, Chris Botti, Wayne Bergeron, Herb Alpert, and also up-and-coming jazz artist Tony Glausi. In addition, I’ve taken great inspiration from Rashawn Ross, who also performs with the Dave Matthews Band.
Current Projects: I currently have three upcoming performances with Western Washington’s top Big Band. These include a feature at the NAFME All-Northwest Conference in Portland Oregon, our winter concert, and the local Big Band Bash in March. I’m also performing the solo trumpet feature for Stravinsky’s Petrouchka with Western’s Symphony Orchestra, and will additionally be playing in our upcoming Wind Symphony performance. In addition, I have an emerging band that I jam with on a regular basis.
