Sarah Perry is trained in all styles of music with a focus on the classical style. Sarah began formal piano lessons at age 6. Taking up additional music lessons in violin and voice through high school and a college level music theory course lead to her decision to study music at the university level. At university, piano was her main instrument, but music theory was her focus and Sarah spent most of her free time teaching and tutoring her peers. Notable teachers include Eric Funk, Composition; Laurel Yost, Piano; and Angela Ahn, violinist of the Ahn Trio, violin/viola. She also spent some time in early childhood education which developed into a passion for teaching music to young children. Throughout her music career Sarah has taught students from age three to adult. Her goals with students of any age are learning to read music, understanding the theory behind the notes and encouraging her students to develop confidence and experiment with their own ideas and style.

Current Projects

Since moving to Bellingham, Sarah has worked as a piano instructor at Wild Hare Music School as well as teaching lessons outside the studio and occasionally subbing for music classes in the Bellingham School District. She plays viola in two local community orchestras, taking the role of section leader in one of them, and composes music whenever she can.
