Our group classes are not only educational and fun, but also an opportunity to meet new friends, learn teamwork, and gain confidence with your peers. We are Bellingham’s central musical hub, connecting musicians of all ages to people who can help them take their musical journey to the next level.

Beginner Singing Class With Veronica West

Are you ready to take what you’ve learned in lessons and join an advanced group class? Maybe you are self taught and are ready to join a band? This is an opportunity to meet likeminded musicians, rehearse weekly, play shows, and record original music in Bellinghome’s recording studio. We have had the opportunity to perform at Kulshan Trackside, Boundary Bay Brewery, Zeeks Pizza, The Blue Room, Firehouse Arts and Events Center, and the Commercial Street Night Markets. More venues are on the horizon!

Beginner Band Class
With Orion Lackey
For kids ready to be in their first band, or new to a band setting.

Wednesdays 5p-6:30p
Ages 10 - 14 (Grades 5th - 8th)

This class is for students who are making progress on their instrument and want to be in their first band! They need to either have been taking lessons for at least 6 months or are able to follow song forms and chord progressions in a group setting and are self sufficient at learning parts at home from notation or tab or Youtube videos.
Orion is a professional musician in several PNW groups and also has worked in several grade schools (Public and Montessori) in Bellingham since 2014. He also has led our Bhome adult band class.

Bhome Beat Makers Lab w/ Nick Taylor
Introduction to beat production and electric composition

The class will be limited to 6 kids and each will be required to come with their own Mac Laptop. We will be working with Garage Band, a built in software to Mac OS, which is a beginning DAW (Digital audio workstation) as well as spending time in the recording studio at Bellinghome.
Get the big picture of creating electronic music and recording studio techniques. We will learn how to use audio samples, midi controllers, beat sequencers, and microphones to create and record music. The idea is to get acclimated with using the technology and software programs and creating your own songs during this class while learning about universal concepts and vocabulary that is used in recording/production. We will also listen to different types of music to instill a variety of inspiration for our creative process.
The DAW's we will be working with are Garage band and an online platform called Band Lab. Both platforms/programs feature remote collaboration workflow training, which is very common in the recording/production industry this day and age.
Nick Taylor has done freelance recording in Bellingham since 2012 and now runs Taylor Made Productions (a recording studio in Bellinghome School of Music) which started in 2017
