Bio

Tuscan Harper is a pianist from Anacortes, Washington. He studies classical piano at Western Washington University under Jeffery Gilliam. He’s also played in several of the school’s ensembles, including the Wind Symphony, Western Symphony Orchestra, and Percussion Ensemble, and loves the collaborative side of music. His teaching emphasizes developing comfortable technique, finding enjoyable and effective ways to practice, and understanding music both theoretically and emotionally.

Influences

Tuscan listens to music ranging from Baroque to folk punk, but is drawn especially to the works of early 20th century modernists such as Karol Szymanowski and Charles Ives. Outside of classical music, some of his favorite bands and musicians include The Mountain Goats, AJJ, Elliott Smith, and Rufus Wainwright. When not busy with music and schoolwork, he spends his time reading, writing, and sharing poetry.
