Bio

Naomi was raised near Pittsburgh, PA, and stayed close to home to earn her degree in Musical Theatre.  She then moved to New York and promptly began following a newer passion: sacred music. She sang professionally all over the city, including at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.  She soon moved to Washington, DC, "the choral capital of America." She continued to serve as cantor and section leader at a well known parish, as well as singing the winning composition of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition at the Kennedy Center and singing in several different prestigious choirs in the area.  Moving west in 2008, she joined the Tucson Chamber Artists, who later became True Concord and were nominated for a Grammy.

Current projects

Naomi continues to work with True Concord, as well as lending her voice to the choir of St Paul's Episcopal Church here in Bellingham and sometimes helping out musically at Congregation Beth Israel too.  She sings with Vox Antiqua and looks forward to joining the Bellingham Festival Chorus this summer for the first time.

Influences

Naomi is fluent in many styles, so her influences are an eclectic bunch.  From Bach to Bernstein, Sondheim to Schubert, Mahler, Mozart, and Miranda. Vocalists she admires include Bernadette Peters, Maria Callas, Idina Menzel, Stephanie Blythe, Linda Eder, Sarah Bareilles, Ella Fitzgerald, George Hearn, Freddie Mercury, and Jessye Norman.
